Blog Archives

Man, I suck at this whole “blog” thing

Note to self: If I post to the blog on the regular, I won’t find myself having to log in, only to realize that I’ve forgotten my password.  /note

It’s crazy, because so much is happening here in GOGOG Central.  I got my first round of edits for The Little Whatever in and checked over and added too and sent back, and THEN my Friday got massively improved by the art department getting in contact with me about the cover.  The cover, you guys.  I don’t know why this is a bigger deal to me than edits, but the cover just made this shit just a little more real, you know?

Yesterday was Pride here in the Twin Cities, and I wore my sorry self out walking and eating and looking and buying and drinking and just wallowing in the happy.  So much shit has happened in the name of queer rights with the November elections here in MN and the upcoming legal gay marriages, and the Supreme Court (who is still on my shit list for the VRA fuck up), released some good news about DOMA and Prop 8.  You could almost TASTE the joy.  Then I got home and broadcasted another episode of Happily Ever After, had an awesomely intelligent discussion about Amy Lane’s Bolt Hole and then got comment from Ms. Lane herself!  That almost makes up for the serious ugly crying I was doing after the show while trying to finish Forever Promised.  Almost.

And lastly, final edits are in for my LHNB story, so I should be hearing about when it will be in the release rotation soon and as soon as I know, so will you!

My LHNB story is now called Smokey Glimpses and it’s ready to be sent for editing.  I’m kinda excited, since it’s a freebie and all.

Riptide had a call for discovery stories with a college setting and I’ll be damned if a story didn’t burrow itself into my brain.  Not a standard m/m story, though both MCs are male, but I’ve been very, very interested in seeing how a love story between two asexual men would work.  There would be a lot of misunderstanding between them and dealing with others misunderstanding their relationship and I can’t wait to start!

I have a couple of goals for the year, another novel-sized contract being one of them, two more submission calls, and finishing Little Earthquakes (my freebie on FictionPress).

One big goal is something on the fan-side of my brain, a virtual book club using Google Plus.  I wanted to talk and commensurate and gab with other M/M fans, and so I had this idea of using Hangout to do that and posting them on YouTube.  I have some interested folk, so we’ll see how that works out.

Oops, I’ve missed a week

Well, not really.  I did write a bit last week.   I did spend most of the weekend at a skeptical conference, sitting and listening and having dinner with some skpetical bloggers who I admire like whoa.

So, in apology, I got a lot done.  I’m going to postpone work on All I Ever Wanted for a little while.  I’m running out of steam with ideas and those ideas keep changing and as much as I love me some Patch (and I hope when you read This Little Whatever you’ll love him too), I need to get some of my post contract mojo back.  So, hopefully this summer I’ll get back on it.

In the meantime, I’m sending all my Love Has No Boundaries ficlet to Goodreads and I’m still parting off Little Earthquakes in chapters on FictionPress, and I’ve been converting some of my old novels that I want to edit and work on and hopefully release from yWriter to Scrivener.

Also, I’ve now got a Google Plus page with a nefarious plan to be announced later…

Oh, the joys of trying to find parking when both the local coffee shop and your house are both near churches. And it’s Easter Sunday.

I managed and got the Love Has No Boundaries story first read and edited and I even have a tentative title for it; Just a Glimpse.

*Insert cheers of joy for spelling “glimpse” correctly the first time finally since I started this story*

It’s a short story for sure, about 7,000 words, but it was literally the story that popped out of my brain, a short, cute little tale with a touch of the paranormal.  I hope it’s well received, or at least not utterly hated.

I’m going to post Little Earthquakes on FictionPress one chapter at a time, and I think with both of those shorties down, I can get back to the albertross that is All I Ever Wanted. I’ve some time before I start getting edits back from it’s previous book, so I really need to get it out of my head and on pixels, but I’ll be damned if the stupid plot keeps wriggling away from me whenever I try to nail it down.

It was quite difficult writing with one hand in a cast (like doing damn near everything else with one hand in a cast – grr!), but today I got more words into my Love Has No Boundaries submission.

It needs a title.  I hope one comes me to while I’m asleep.

So, now that This Little Whatever is getting legit published…

Behold, my happy dance

I now have official projects and goals to work on:

  • TLW‘s sequel (which is giving me so many plot fits)
  • The Untitled LHNB short
  • Little Earthquakes needs editing
  • My Sci-Fi possible short
  • …and now I’ve got a plot merman nibbling in my ear.

Happy St. Patty’s Day, folks!  I hope you’re having fun tonight, drunk or sober.

I didn’t think I’d try to write anything with my left arm in a cast, but the Muse refused to let me go.  I did some work on All I Ever Wanted, and then, I got myself involved in Goodread’s M/M Romance Group’s Love Has No Boundaries Event.

With the first check in due around the same time I get my cast removed.  Well, I do love a challenge.

Here’s the prompt and my response (you have to be a member of the group in order to see this.).

So I’m a day late and a little groggy.  This morning’s commute ended with me in the ER with a broken bone in my wrist.  I hate ice.  Writing is going to suck for a little bit, but I will try my best.

As for All I Ever Wanted, it’s going.  Hopefully when I am less addled by pain meds, I will post a little unpolished excerpt.  Back to bed with me!

Hooray and hooray, Little Earthquakes is all done, at least the first draft anyways.  I’m thinking that I might make this one a freebie for FictionPress instead of try to shop it.  It’s not that I’m confident, and boy oh boy do I want to try to do another tale with one of the MCs working at a sex toy shop or an advice columnist (without channeling too much Dan Savage).    Since I made this one a BDSM romp, my other idea will have to be a sweet little romance.   Yey.

Next blitz, we’re back to All I Ever Wanted.

Writing Blitz Rundown 2/24/2013

After spending four days with out at home Internet (eek!), I was too terrified to access All I Ever Wanted because it’s in Dropbox, and the Cloud contines to confound me.  Looks like it was just a screw up by a tech who was sent out to unhook someone else’s internet, so we got it fixed by Saturday evening.

While I was in deep mourning/galloping crazies from lack of Internet, I had an idea for a short(er) story I could work on/bang out, a little bit of BDSM fluff because after reading Country Mouse, I had a hankering for some serious silce of life to go with my “Yes Sir/good boy”.  So yeah, the tentative title is Little Earthquakes and I hope to get the first draft done by next week so I can get back to All I Ever Wanted.

So, due to a several extra income deficiency, I spent my writing blitz at home and proceeded to push a bit more with my TLW sequel, which I’m tentatively titling All I Ever Wanted.  There’s an argument here, a short one, and I realize that I hate writing arguments.  Hell, I hate reading them.  I hate hearing them. I’m so non-confrontational I’m surprised I have a pulse.

But I’m aware that normal people occasional have disagreements, and my boys needed to hash something out.  So i gritted my teeth and let them have it.
